Kauflin, was an original member of the New York City Ballet, a singer and a Broadway dancer. Jack Kauflin's Broadway credits include On The Town (1944), The Littlest Revue (1956), and High Spirits (1964).

Jack Kauflin met and many years later married costume designer Robert "Bob" Fletcher (born Robert Fletcher Wycoff, son of Leon Wycoff, and adopted at age 11 as Robert Fletcher Keahey; 23 August 1922, Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa-5 April 2021 Kansas City, Clay County, Missouri), who designed costumes over more than six decades on screen and the Broadway stage, including the first four Star Trek films. He received a Tony nomination for his work on "High Spirits" in 1964, which Jack had also been a part.

Fletcher's father was Hollywood actor, Leon Ames (born Leon Wycoff; 20 Jan 1902 Portland, Jay County, Indiana- 12 Oct 1993 Laguna Beach/Corona del Mar, Orange County, California). Robert, never having had a relationship with Leon until his elder years, assumed his middle name, Fletcher, as his stage/professional surname. As it turned out coincidentally, Fletcher was Jack's middle name, too. A friend, Frank Oatman, relayed that Bob thought their fate was sealed from the start. In an interview, Bob said Jack was, "the one and only love of my one and only life."

By at least 1957, Jack Kauflin and Robert Fletcher lived together in Manhattan at 231 E 50th Street . By 1960, they lived at 388 3rd Avenue.

In 1989, they "retired" to Taos/El Prado, NM, although they both continued to work.

By 2017, they moved to an apartment on the Kansas City Country Club Plaza. A great feature on the couple appeared in "KC Studio magazine" on March 2, 2018.

Jack Kauflin died sometime between March 2, 2018, and April 5, 2021. The couple had been together for 65 years.

Bob Fletcher died April 5, 2021, in Kansas City at 98.
