EMMETT BASCOM MINTER was born on 21 June 1882 in Pine Forest, Hopkins County, Texas, and was the son of Sylvanus Oliver Minter (1854-1906) & Frances Elizabeth Stephens (1855-1897), both also buried at Pine Forest. Frances Stephen's brother Benjamin Stephens founded the town of Stephensville, Fannin County, Texas, which was later renamed Lannius.

Emmett was a Cattle Rancher, Dairy Farmer, and Farmed Cotton. Emmett Bascom Minter married Ruby Odell Bryarly on 8 September 1907 in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas. They had 7 Children:

Sylvan Minter (1908-1909),
Elkin "Ockin" Margaret Minter (1909-1996),
Florrie Ruth Minter-Hargrave (1911-1974),
Doris Evelyn Minter-Moore-Stewart (1915-2006),
Howard Bryarly Minter (1917-1987),
Ralph Minter (1921-2012), and
Jean Elizabeth Minter-Highfield (1926-1995).

Emmett's ancestors founded the town of Pine Forest in Hopkins County, TX, and donated land for the Methodist Cemetery of Pine Forest.

Emmett passed away on 24 January 1945 in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas and was buried at the family plot in Pine Forest, Hopkins County, Texas.
