Amy B. Burke (nee Bertsch) was awarded her angel's wings July 6, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Amy was born in New York City April 8, 1965 to Dr. Robert and Beverly Bertsch. While residing in Closter, she attended the Elisabeth Morrow School, Dwight Englewood High School and Syracuse University. After graduating, she set her sights on a career in retail management.
She worked for Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City and Short Hills, managing several departments, eventually becoming a group manager. Brooks Brother's was the next stop on her employment path, helping to manage one of their busiest flagship locations, also in The Mall at Short Hills. Next her career took her to an area that was near and dear to her heart, managing both the fragrance and cosmetic departments at Bloomingdales in Short Hills. After relocating to Monmouth County, Amy moved on to manage the White House|Black Market boutique in the Shoppes at Old Bridge.
Amy was predeceased by her father. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 13 years Tom Burke, of Matawan; her beloved mother Beverly Bertsch of Midland Park; two amazingly supportive sisters, Leslie Bertsch-Neumeyer of Princeton and Melissa Giancarlo of Hillsdale and their husbands Charlie and Mike. In addition, she leaves behind two step-daughters, Shannon Bostic (and Amy's grandson Ben) and Colleen Burke; three nephews, Chas and Eric Neumeyer and Christian Giancarlo; and a niece Isabella Giancarlo.
Amy also loved animals, her loyal friends Georgie, Yogi, Grace and Frankie will miss her dearly!
A Memorial Service was held in the Chapel at the Historic Village of Allaire located at Allaire State Park in Farmingdale, NJ.
