Ross A. Smedley, 81, of Springfield died at 3:55 a.m. Friday at Memorial Medical Center. Mr. Smedley was born in Petersburg, the son of Harry and Clara Acre Smedley. His wife, Isabel, preceded him in death in 1985. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the First Christian Church, member and past member of St. Paul's Lodge No. 500 AF&AM, Springfield Chapter No. 1 of the Royal Arch Masons, Springfield Council No. 2 of the Royal and Select Masters, Elwood Commandery No. 6 Knights Templar, Valley of Springfield AASR, and a member of the Ansar Temple. Mr. Smedley was a former accountant. Surviving are one daughter, Susan Fleischi of Springfield; one san, Harry Smedley of Springfield; three grandchildren; and one sister, Mildren Johnston of Petersburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bisch Memorial Home, with the Rev. Donald F. Clingan officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
