HENRY C. FUQUA married his first wife, the former MISS SARAH ANNE ELIZABETH BERRYHILL, the daughter of ANDREW & SARAH BERRYHILL, SR. OF MIXED SCOTTISH & CATAWBA-CREEK INDIAN BLOOD, in JUNE OF 1805, in LOUISVILLE, JEFFERSON COUNTY, GEORGIA. They had 4 children together : SARAH ANNE FUQUA on DEC. 20th, 1806 ; ANDREW AUGUSTOS FUQUA in 1808-1809 ; RACHEL SUSAN FUQUA in FEB. of 1812 ; & THOMAS BERRYHILL FUQUA, born on JULY 16th, 1816. Their mother died in 1818. Her place of burial is unknown. Their son,THOMAS BERRYHILL FUQUA & family [T. B. FUQUA - 2nd GEORGIA MILITIA, COMPANY A, CSA, 1861-1865] are buried in the "OLD DUBLIN CITY CEMETERY" with other FUQUA relatives who are not listed on this FIND-A-GRAVE website .

SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF HENRY C. FUQUA, SENIOR , BORN IN BURKE [later JEFFERSON] COUNTY on FEBRUARY 1st, 1784 & DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT HIS RESIDENCE ON BELLVIEW ROAD IN DUBLIN, LAURENS COUNTY, GEORGIA ON APRIL 14th, 1860. HE DIED @ 76 YEARS OLD OF TYPHOID FEVER EXPECTING HIS 2nd SON, JAMES CURRELL FUQUA, BY HIS 29 year old 3rd wife, THE FORMER, MISS WINNIFORD BERRYHILL. She was 22 & he was 69 when the couple married in early 1853, having their 1st son together, HENRY CURRELL FUQUA, later that year in 1853. He & his 1st wife, SARAH ANNE ELIZABETH BERRYHILL had 2 sons & 2 daughters. ANDREW AUGUSTOS FUQUA (1808-1900), MRS. SARAH JANE FUQUA JOYCE, 1806-1892 (wife of WILLIAM JOYCE), MRS. RACHEL SUSAN FUQUA ROBINSON, 1812-1889 (wife of the honorable Laurens County, Georrgia State Representative, ROBERT ROBINSON, SR.), & the youngest, THOMAS BERRYHILL FUQUA (1816-1893) & his wife, the former, MISS CAMILLA MARTHA JANE "MILLY" HIGHTOWER (1825-1900_. His 2nd wife, the former, MISS ELIZABETH H. WEBB (1804-1849) gave him a son who died on his father's plantation, "THE FUQUA PLACE & EAST SIDE OCONEE RIVER "FUQUA LANDING", HENRY C(H)ANDLER FUQUA,JR. (1827-1850) @ 23 TEARS OLD & a daughter, MRS. MARY JANE FUQUA CURRELL, wife of GEORGE CURRELL. 8 children in all-5 sons & 3 daughters

James Callaway of Macon, one of the best informed historians in the state, is authority for the statement, HENRY C. FUQUA, SR. accidentally discovered the VALUE of using COTTON SEED as a FERTILIZER. Traditionally, Cotton Seed was discarded & burned.
