Robert (Bob) passed away July 4, 2022, at the age of 94. He was born June 7, 1928, in Harlingen, TX.
After graduating High School in 1946 he joined the National Guard of Texas in 1948. In 1951, he joined the Air Force and by 1952 he was assigned to Flight Training School. By 1953 Bob was a 2nd Lt. And a pilot. He flew several varieties of aircrafts; fighter jets, bombers and troop transports to name a few. His work took him to conflicts like Korea, the Congo Conflict and the Vietnam War. By the end of his 21 years plus career with the Air Force he retired a Captain in 1971. He also retired after 20 years with the Texas Employment Commission. He was very honored to assist veterans with their transition into the civilian workforce. He remained a military man his whole life and a wonderful patriot to this country.
He is survived by his wife Laurel McLeaish, stepmother Rosa; siblings Janelle, Pinkie, Jim, Anna, Rosemary and Connie; children, Rebecca, Rachel, Richard(deceased), Mary, Douglas, David, Joseph and Emily; along with their spouses; grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all love you and miss you.
A special thanks to his care givers, Jorge and Delia Escoveda, prior to his moving into the Alfredo Gonzalez VA Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's name to the Palm Valley Animal Shelter would be appreciated.
Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2022 from 5-7 pm at Kreidler Funeral Home.
Burial will be July 12 at 11:15 am at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
