Actor. He was best known to both film and television viewers for the numerous character roles he played throughout a career that spanned six decades. Born Justice Ellis McQueen, he took his stage name L.Q. Jones for his first acting role in the 1955 film "Battle Cry." Among his numerous film credits through the years included such titles as "The Naked and the Dead," (1958) "Cimarron," (1960) "Major Dundee," (1965) "Hang 'Em High," (1968) "The Wild Bunch," (1969) "A Boy and His Dog," (1975) "Lone Wolf McQuade," (1983) "Casino," (1995) and "The Patriot." (1998) That same year, he made his television debut on the series "Cheyenne." He went on to appear in numerous television series such as "Anne Oakley," "The Rebel," "Lassie," "Laramie," "Wagon Train," "Rawhide," "The Big Valley," "Gunsmoke," "Ironside," "Charlie's Angels," "The Fall Guy," and "Renegade." He also directed the 1975 film "A Boy and His Dog."
