He was born March 19, 1917, at Pomona to Elmer W. and Nettie (Lowell) Swallow.
He was a lifelong resident of Pomona.
He attended Boyd Grade School. He graduated from Pomona High School in 1936.
He was a member of the Pomona Methodist Church. He served on the board for many years. He was a charter member of the Pomona Lions Club, and he served 11 years on the Pomona Grade School Board.
He farmed in the Wellsville and Pomona areas until 1945. He then worked as an independent contractor. He retired in 1981.
He married Mary Frances Coltrane June 17, 1940, at Ottawa. She preceded him in death March 8, 2002.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Doris Swallow, Topeka; a sister, Ethel Cade, Emporia; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He also was preceded in death by sons, Larry Swallow and Don Swallow; a daughter-in-law, Betty Swallow; several brothers and a sister.
