Clark A. Wheaton 86 of Wintersville, OH died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at Gables Care Center, Hopedale, OH. He was born in Jefferson County on June 3, 1915 a son of the late Frank and Margaret Cole Wheaton. He was a member of Two Ridges U.P. Church in Wintersville where he served as an elder and session member. Member of first graduating class of Wintersville High School Class of 1932. Also a volunteer for Valley Hospice and a member of the Bantam Ridge School Historical Society. Clark retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. in 1978 as an electrical structural engineer. He was preceeded in death by his wife Gene L. Ruthem Wheaton, whom he married on July 12, 1941 and she died on Nov. 7, 1998; one brother Francis and two sisters Inez Solter and Gladys Albans. During WWII, Clark was a staff sargeant with the 5th Army Air Division; 90th Bomb Group 321st Squadron serving in the South Pacific. Surviving are one son Ronald (Janet) Wheaton of Huntington Beach, CA; three daughters Joyce Wheaton of Frostburg, MD, Marsha (Robert) Marker of Wintersville and Leslie (Jack) Cagot of Bloomingdale, OH; one sister Ila K. Wheaton of Wintersville; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville on Friday 2-4 and 7-9. On Saturday, friends may call at Two Ridges Church from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. with Rev. Bob Meyer officiating. Entombment at Fort Steuben Burial Estates where the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct services. Memorials can be made to Gables Care Center or Two Ridges Church.
