October 12, 2005 William R. MacLeod Jr. died Wednesday at Francis House after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His loving companion, Kathryn O'Connor, was at his side. Bill was born in Syracuse August 31, 1939. His parents, William R MacLeod Sr. and Janet Schleinwein MacLeod, predeceased him. He attended Nottingham High School and graduated from the Canterbury School in New Milford, CT. He also attended Hobart & William Smith College in Geneva, NY, and Syracuse University. He was formerly employed in the loan department of Marine Midland Bank of Syracuse. He retired from CSM Services in 2004, where he was employed for 24 years. Bill loved antiques of every sort. He especially enjoyed collecting antique automobiles, clocks, furniture and textiles. He was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Inc., and the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America. He is survived by his daughter, Wendy M. MacLeod-Chappell, son-in-law, Todd Chappell, and granddaughter, Halla Chappell, of Falls Church, VA; cousins, Michael F. MacLeod of Washington, DC, and Margaret MacLeod Kennedy of Sanbornville, NH; and his companion, Kathryn O'Connor of Syracuse. Greenleaf Funeral Home Inc. has charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be private.
