Gene had a strong sense of faith and would pray the rosary daily. She was a charter member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Homesteader's Club. In her younger years, Gene and Pete enjoyed traveling with their family in tow. They proudly visited 49 states, only missing Hawaii. They especially loved their family trips to Custer State Park in South Dakota. Gene enjoyed playing cards and truly loved any time spent with her family.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Steffes, Tina and Mike Coniff, Scott and Jean Tweedale; two sons-in-law, Frank Zeiske and Ed Schultz; 14 grandchildren, Robin Choy, Wade (Teri) Schultz, Brad Schultz, Beth (Dave) Jenkel, Tricia Faust, Nathan (Amy) Pollatz, Whitney (Derek) Fisher, Kara (Trevor) Mollison, Colin (Christen) Piaskowski, Melissa Tweedale, Becky (Ryan) Campbell, Holly Tweedale, Max Tweedale; 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sally Schopf; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Seraphin and Mary DeWitt; parents-in-law, Clarence and Selma Tweedale; husband, Alvin; children, Myra Zeiske, Cynthia Schultz, Debra Pollatz, Peter Tweedale; son-in-law, John Steffes; and granddaughter, Brooke Coniff; 9 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Rev. Patrick C. Beno officiating. Burial will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
