Husband of Louise Carmellia Franklin married in 1874 and came to Jones County about 1875 probably through Fort Griffin to Fort Phantom. He was engaged in buffalo hunting and later farming before Jones County was organized in 1881. Ben, Lou and their first two children were part of the 549 people in Jones Co. on the 1880 census. He and Lou had 10 children and lived on the Ben Shaw Survey homestead 10 miles North of Anson, Tx. He died on Jan 21, 1891 and was buried on the farm which is private property. Lou married E. Burgess on Dec.13, 1892 and later moved to Stamford which was organized in 1900.
