Thomas was adopted at birth by Vernon and LaRie Underwood. As a young boy, he was sent to a childrens' home in Boise. He was later placed with his foster-mom, Velma Hansen and at age eight was adopted by Tom and Martha. He grew up on a dairy farm with his siblings, Gene, Jay and Judy. He and Linda Fiman married on January 11, 1985, in Seattle LDS Temple, had two children and were later divorced. Tom enjoyed his work in the area farms. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was often found doing genealogy himself, or helping someone with their genealogy. Tom loved spending time with family. Survived by his son, Jared Balls and daughter Virginia (Gabe) Snow, all of Aberdeen; siblings Gene (Nellie) Balls and Jay Balls, all of Idaho Falls; former spouse Linda Balls of Aberdeen. Also precedied by sister Judy Balls Walker and a stillborn baby sister. Graveside service held Friday, July 22nd
