Barbara Bradford Stoner née Hitt, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2022 at home in Plymouth, Michigan.

Barbara was born to Guy Douglas and Lenore Lazier Hitt on December 28, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan. She spent her formative years in Huntington Woods, Michigan, graduated from Royal Oak High School, then obtained her Bachelor of Education degree from Michigan State University (Go Green!). Barbara began her elementary school teaching career in California and later returned to Birmingham, Michigan to continue teaching. During her college and teaching days Barb's passion for acting was highlighted by her participation in many productions and as a member of the Village Players of Birmingham. In fact, it was after her lead performance in Pillow Talk that she was set up on a blind date with her future husband, Eugene Morrison Stoner. They were married in April of 1965 at Kirk in the Hills church located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and began their life together traveling and living in Port Clinton, Ohio. Later they moved to Palm City, Florida, and spent summers in Charlevoix, Michigan. They remained together until Eugene's death on April 27, 1997.

Barbara and her husband traveled extensively. They managed to visit almost every continent at least once and always brought home wild stories blanketed in laughter and photographs from their adventures.

Barbara's love of travel and curiosity about cooking led her to attend the La Varenne Cooking school in Paris, France where she perfected her culinary skills and challenged the seriousness of her classmates with her infectious smile and pixyish sense of humor. While residing in Palm City, Florida Barbara learned to pilot jet helicopters, hosted delicious dinner parties, taught anyone who was interested how to tap dance in her kitchen, entertained her grandchildren, and played with her beloved dogs. After her husband's passing, Barbara found a love for painting and painted with a fervor. Her favorite subjects were animals doing human activities and portraits of her own dogs. Additionally, Barbara loved a cold glass of white wine and spending time with her friends. She was a devout member of Palm City Presbyterian Church and a longtime member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO).

Barbara's legacy of kindness and unconditional love will forever live on in those who loved her most. She will also be lovingly remembered by her step daughters Susan Stoner Kleinpell (Arthur) and Deirdre Stoner Elmore(Ken); her grandchildren Kirsten Peaslee Marumoto (Scott), Christopher Stallworth (Rebecca), Jonathan Peaslee (Regie), Dylan Stoner (Kelly), Morgan de Lorimier, Mary Kleinpell Martella (Christopher), Arthur S. Kleinpell III, Alexander Elmore, Annabel Elmore; her niece Nancy Henry Story (Mick) and nephew Samuel Henry (Karen); and treasured friend Stan Waite. In addition, Barbara is survived by many wonderful great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene M. Stoner; sister Polly Henry; stepchildren Patricia Stoner Magee and Michael Stoner; and nephew Thomas Henry.

Barbara was interred with her husband Eugene at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, VA.
