His wings were ready, but our hearts were not…
James Calvin Bailey, affectionately known as "Bun" was born on June 12, 1964, to the late James "Big Man" Bailey and Dorothy Bailey Davis (Richard "Dickie" Davis).
Bun was educated in Sussex County Public School System. He loved to show off his cooking skills, watch cooking shows, working on cars with his late father, uncles, and friends. A devoted uncle to his nephews, always making sure their cars were fixed and making his family and friends laugh at moments when they needed him most.
Bun gained his wings on July 20, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, James "Big Man" Bailey; grandparents, John and Sallie Griffin, and Virginia Bailey; three aunts, Kizzie Griffin, Gloria Branch and Mildred Bailey; and his uncles, Oille Bailey and Clifton Parham.
Bun leaves to cherish his memories: his loving mother, Dorothy Bailey Davis (Richard); sisters, Gwendolyn J. Bailey and Tracie Poarch (Charles); nephews, Lowell Rose, Aaron, Braxton, and Cameron Poarch; great nephew, Carter Poarch; great niece, Ari Poarch; uncles, Mack Bailey, Calvin Bailey (Catherine), Earl Griffin and John Robert Griffin (Renee); aunts, Catherine Mason, Mary Bailey, Phyliss Washington, and Frances Smith (Earl); a devoted life partner, caregiver, and travel companion, Anita Coleman, and their devoted grandchildren; a host of cousins and friends among them devoted cousins and special moments, Christina Mason Griffin (known to her "Hunni Bun" as little "Kizzie Griffin" the love for her potato salad and his personal hype man), Tiffany Griffin Thompson (Jesse, know to Bun as her sugar daddy, his riding partner, going to the "German Store" known as Aunt Kat house in Church Hill); devoted friends, Thomas "T" Hall, John "Johnny Cake" Griffin, and Carlos Brown.
