Minerva Alice Jones was the daughter of Mr. Rufus J. and Mrs. Nancy Goforth Jones. Minerva was married to John Washington Sanders until his death in 1921. Minerva and John had 9 children: Ollie Jesse Sanders, Thomas W. ("Tom") Sanders, Elizabeth S. ("Lizzie") Sanders, Willietts Rufus Sanders, Robert W. ("Bob") Sanders, Lillian E. Sanders, John Booker Sanders, Mark L. Sanders, Samuel Sanders, and Sarah H. ("Sallie") Sanders and she was the stepmother to John's 3 children from his first marriage: John Elzey Sanders, Estella Sanders, and Emma Bernice Sanders.




SANDERS - At residence, Askew, Miss., Wednesday morning, April 14, 1943 at 4:30 o'clock. Mrs. Minerva Alice Sanders, aged 79 years. Wife of the late J.W. Sanders; mother of T.W. , Robert W., J.B. and M.L. Sanders, all of this city, W.R. Sanders of Askew, Miss., Mrs. Elizabeth Hart(z) and Mrs. Sara Blalock of New Orleans, La. and the late O.J. Sanders of this city; step-mother of J.W. Sanders of Water Valley, Miss., Mrs. Emma Crutcher of this city and the late Estelle Edward.


Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Claude Howe will be held at the National Funeral Home, 1177 Union Avenue, this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Friends are invited. Interment in Edmondson Cemetery (State Line Road, Southaven, Mississippi)
