Maine Death Records and the stone both say his parents were Capt. E. Buxton and P. B. The Death Records say he was 10 month old but not the year.
The 1850 Census lists an Edmond Buxton (b. abt 1817) of Camden, ME with wife, Pamela A. (b. abt 1815) and daughters, Lucy B. (b. abt 1844) and Ann M. S. (b. abt 1848) Buxton. It seems reasonable to connect this family with William.
