W. L. WILSON born in Greenville, South Carolina October 23, 1822, died August 18, 1899 at Leeds, Alabama. Married to Miss. ELIZABETH BLACKBURN (Blount County). Had eight boys and three girls. Second marriage was to LOU SPEC (six years), then third time married to MOLLIE GAMBLE.
Joined Methodist Episcopal Church in 1838, licensed to preach in 1848 and was local preacher for fifty years. Elected Judge of Probate 1862-1865, elected and served as lay delegate to General Conference, became publisher of "Alabama Christian Advocate" 1885-1886.
