Rod was born on July 25, 1962 in Manitowoc, son of the late Robert Marotz and Lucille "Lucy" (Copiskey) Kubichka. He was employed at a few places over his lifetime, starting his working career at Weber Grill, moving on to Metalware in Two Rivers, Eggers, Agriculture and Forest Products, and Seiler Construction. Rod also owned and operated the Kickback Saloon in Manitowoc where he took pride in his place where he would go above and beyond to make sure his patrons and friends were taken care of and having a good time. From a young age, Rod could fix anything, from dirt bikes, motor cycles, to automobiles, everyone called Rod for help. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating with family and friends. To Rod, family was so very important to him, and he truly loved them and spending time with them.
He is survived by his children: Mandy (Todd) Moolenaar and Jake Marotz; two grandsons: Bryce and Gavin Moolenaar, all of Manitowoc; siblings and in-laws: John (Doreen) Cavanaugh, Dawn (Todd) Hubbartt, all of Manitowoc, and Kim (Nic Meissner) Marotz of Mishicot; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert in 2004, his mother, Lucy in 2019, his step-father, Rodney Kubichka in 2019, his love and girlfriend, Linda Leonard-Peterman in 2021, and other relatives.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Garfield Street in Two Rivers. Officiating will be Rev. Colie Bettivia. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
