Cheryle Lynn Montgomery, 75, passed away at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska Tuesday, July 26, 2022 following a brief illness. She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa January 21, 1947 to Wilfred and Wilma (Wehrhan) Barber. The family later relocated to northern Missouri. Cheryle was a graduate of Greentop, Missouri High School in 1965 and married Gerald L. Montgomery March 24, 1968. The couple had one daughter, Stacey born October 27, 1972.

She was employed in different occupations throughout her life including a telephone switchboard operator with the Kirksville, Missouri telephone company and a book-keeper with the First National Bank of Kirksville. Most notable, was her time spent as a Case Manager with the Regional Intervention Program in Nashville, Tennessee where she provided valuable assistance to parents of preschool children with various disabilities. Most recently, Cheryle was employed as a sales clerk with Barb's Hallmark in Lincoln, Nebraska. She really enjoyed various crafts, particularly making greeting cards and sharing them with her numerous friends and family. She was a terrific wife and fabulous mother, devoting much of her energy in caring for her special needs daughter.

Cheryle is survived by her husband and daughter, both of Lincoln, one brother, Lonny of rural Greentop, Missouri, many nieces and nephews and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

An informal family gathering will be at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 "O" Street in Lincoln between 6:00 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 3. Memorials may be given to Autism Society Nebraska, which may be accessed by the following link: ASN Donation Page – Autism Society (autismnebraska.org)
