Michael was born December 31, 1947, in Big Spring, TX, to Avery Emmit Deel and Ima Theo (Wilkinson) Deel.

He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1966.

Mike attended Howard County Junior College until he was inducted into the US Army in 1969. He served in the Vietnam War, where he was wounded and served the remainder of his enlistment at Ft. Riley, Kansas.

After his return to civilian life, he moved to Austin, TX, where he worked construction for a small printing company until his retirement in 1999.

Mike met his wife Sandra in Austin on December 31, 1976. They married on April 19, 1980.

He became active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Commander of VFW Post 3377, Manchaca, TX. Mike and Sandra made close and dear friends at the "V" and treasure these friendships and love of the people.

Michael is survived by his wife Sandra, sisters Pat Williams (Don) and Vickie McElreath (David), and sister-in-law Bobbye Deel. Other survivors are Mike King (Sharon), Greg King (Theresa), Lisa Jones (Kevin) and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all cherished by him.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Roy Glen Deel and Anthony Gregg Deel.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Location. Interment will be at 11:15am, Wednesday, August 10, 2022, in DFW National Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday afternoon, prior to the funeral service, beginning at noon.
