Robert Voorhees To Attend Oberlin
"Robert Voorhees of Schurz will leave this week for Oberlin, OH, where he will enroll as a freshman at the Conservastory of Music of Oberlin College.
He was graduated in May from Wasatch Academy at Mt. Pleasant, UT. His two sisters, Barbara and JoAnn, are returning to Wasatch Academy to resume their high school studies."

Schurz Sailor Finishes Course
"Robert G. VoorheesS, hospital corpsman, third class, has successfully completed a year of instruction in
laboratory technique at the U.S. Naval medical, national naval medical center, Bethesda, MD.
The course, attended by enlisted hospital corpsman, employs an extensive curriculum consisting of classes
in hematology, serology, bacteriology, blood chemistry parasitology and pathology. Divided into two
sections, the course devotes eight months to medical theory and the remaining twelve weeks to practical
application of practices discussed during the earlier part of the course.
Upon completion of the course graduation ceremonies were held at Bethesda during which graduates were
presented with diplomas."

Robert G. Voorhees, hospital corpsman, third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Voorhees of
Schurz, reenlists for six years of service at the U.S. naval medical school at Bethesda, MD. Voorhees, a
laboratory technician, serves in the bacteriology department, naval medical school. The oath of acceptance
is administered by Captain J. L. Enyart, medical corps, U.S.N., commanding officer of the naval medical
school."

"Robert George Voorhees passed away on Oct. 26, 2005 in Schurz. He was 76.
He was born in Valentine, Ariz. on Dec. 31, 1928, the son of Walter and Lucille Voorhees. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He was very active in the local community in education and health programs. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children Alexandra Voorhees and husband John Eliason of Philadelphia, Penn.; Paul Voorhees of Beverly, Mass., and John (Michelle) Voorhees of Beverly, Mass., and Maia (Chris) Voorhees of Bozeman, Mont.; sisters, Walita Tom and Vicki Varain both of Schurz; grandchildren, Sophia and Ian Eliason, Giacomo and Shayne Voorhees; numerous nieces and nephews."
