Lee Tinney of Lexington, SC went to be with his Lord Sunday morning July 31st, 2022. He was 79 years old. A visitation for Lee will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Lee was born on June 25th, 1943 in Talladega, Alabama to Alton and Jimmie Lee Tinney. He married his devoted wife, Peggy Edwards on February 21, 1964, in Jackson, MS. Lee graduated from Central High School and earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University in 1967. Lee spent 45 years in the electrical utilities industry as a registered professional engineer. He began a 29-year career with Mississippi Power and Light in 1967. After working for a short time with Florida Power and Light he moved on to Caribbean Utilities Company in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands from 1997 until 2007. He finished his career as an industry consultant.

Lee and Peggy raised two children, Kathy and Michael, in Jackson, MS. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church as well as a member of the Leavell Woods Exchange Club. During his ten years living in the Cayman Islands, Lee was an avid scuba diver and was able to complete several certifications while there. Lee was also a seasoned traveler and loved to tell stories of driving his family to all 48 states within the mainland of the United States. Upon retirement in Lexington, SC he and Peggy became members of Northside Baptist Church.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Jimmie Lee.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peggy, his children Kathy Lord (Alan) Lexington, SC and Michael Tinney (Rafaela) Jupiter, FL, his older brother, Alton Tinney (Marion) Vass, North Carolina, and his five grandchildren: Ally Lord, Matthew Lord (Katie), Nicholas Tinney, Christian Tinney and Michael Lee Tinney.

Lee Tinney was a son, a husband, a father, and grandfather but also a friend to everyone he met. He was also the beloved uncle of Jeff Edwards (Alicia), Todd Edwards (Shelley), Lynda Ryan (Tim), and Sheri Hardison (Anthony).

Lee loved attending all of the events at Northside Christian Academy in Lexington, SC but most especially cheering on the Crusader athletic teams both at home and on the road with his daughter. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Northside Christian Academy Annual Fund at
