Julia was the daughter of Samuel Edward Bolden and his wife Juliana née Wisker;
she was baptized as Juliana at St Oswald, Warton near Lancaster, on 29 Dec. 1845, apparently on the day of her birth which was registered in Lancaster in the 1st quarter of 1846.

In the 1911 census Julia was an unmarried boarder at 75 Lovely Lane, Warrington, with Margaret Jane Jones, the widowed mother of at least 3 daughters having Bolden as a middle name. It seems likely they were related in some way. The unmarried Ellen Mary Tiddy, buried in the same plot, was also at the same house as a visitor in 1911. Both Julia and Ellen Mary were shown as boarders with the same family in 1881, 1891, and 1901 when Margaret Jane's husband, James Walter Jones (born in Holywell in the 4th quarter of 1852, mother Jones), was still living. Margaret Jane matches to a birth in Shrewsbury in the 3rd quarter of 1853, mother Williams [GRO web site].

A third person named in the same plot was Eliza Ann Jones, a probable sister or sister-in-law of Margaret Jane Jones.

In 1871 Julia had been with her parents in Shrewsbury, where Margaret Jane Jones above was born. Margaret Jane Jones was of Bagillt, Flintshire, when she married James Walter Jones of Warrington in 1880. Their first daughter was named Constance Julia Bolden Jones as 2nd daughter with Bolden as a middle name, showing a close connection to Julia.
