Ronald was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Edward and Nancy Ackerbaum. He graduated from NYU and went on to University of Lausanne Medical School where he graduated with the class of 1966. He entered the military and served in the Medical Corps. He came to Orlando in 1971 and went into private practice as Surgeon. Ronald was a Mason, Shriner, Board Member of Congregation Ohev Shalom and active in the Men's Club. His philanthropic nature was shown by his commitment to groups such as the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Congregation Ohev Shalom and the Humane Society.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Viviane; daughters, Karen Ackerbaum Martin of Altamonte Springs, Linda Ackerbaum of Maitland, and Joyce (Matthew) Cox of Maitland; sister, Sandra (Ronald) Portugal of New Haven, CT; and grandchildren, Sydney and Morgan.
