Ervin attended Granville County public schools in North Carolina. He was a member of the Blue Wing Baptist Church at an early age. In 1996 he attended the Faith Tabernacle Church in Ewing until his failing health no longer allowed him. Ervin was a Brick Mason working for numerous local contractors. He was knowledgeable in all forms of masonry work. Ervin was a "proud worker" helping all neighbors and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Harold and Ezra Royster, five brothers and two sisters, he leaves to cherish his memory, wife Edith of 54 years; three sons, Donald, Ronald and David; two grandsons, Ronald and Christopher; a granddaughter, Davenia Morris; two brothers, James (Ludlah) and Armster (Grace); sister Charlette (Robert); a brother-in-law, three sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. He will be missed by all.
