Charles E. Couch, Former Local Man, Died Last Tuesday
Charles E. Couch, a resident of the Sykesville section for many years, and a prominent Parkersburg, W. Va., businessman since 1915, died at his home there last Tuesday after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Couch was born in Punxsutawney, a son of the late David and Nancy Couch and was reared to young manhood in the Sykesville section, where he became a prominent school teacher.
Mr. Couch was married in 1895 to Miss Catherine Reed, of Sykesville, who survives, as do three sons: Dean, of Crafton, Pa.; Robert, of Baltimore, and Albert, of Parkersburg; two daughters: Miss Juvia, of Alderson, W. Va., and Mrs. J.A. Morrison, of Parkersburg; two brothers, Ira L., of Philadelphia, and John Custer, of Sykesville; one sister, Miss Terza, of Pittsburg, also survives as do nine grandchildren.
Mr. Couch was a member of the Methodist Church, Parkersburg Board of Commerce; the Masonic Lodge and was active in the ice cream manufacturing retail tire sales, and was a prominent furniture and carpet broker until his retirement in 1938.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in a Parkersburg cemetery.
