Eugene Anthony Koenig, age 91, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at 11:17 am on Thursday, August 4, 2022, in Maryville, IL. Eugene was born on September 15, 1930, in Glennon, MO, the dear son of the late Anthony & Rosella (Horrell) Koenig. Eugene married Isabelle M (Vandeven) Koenig on May 5, 1956, in Leopold, MO. Isabelle preceded Eugene in death on February 14, 2007.

Besides his parents & wife, Eugene was preceded in death by four siblings, Janetta Koenig, Emmett Koenig, Gladys Enderle and Dorothy Gleuck. Eugene was a veteran of the US Navy serving on the battleship USS Iowa during the Korean War. Longtime employee of the Sisters of St. Mary, retired in 1996 from his position as the Director of Congregational Property. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Glennon, MO, from 11:00 am until 11:30 am. A funeral mass with Fr. Antony Thekkanath will follow at 11:30 am. Interment will also follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family request memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.
