Robert "Bobby" Lawrence Armstrong was born in Woodstock, TN. His late parents were Cecil and Irene Armstrong, who raised a large family in Lucy, TN. His deceased brothers and sisters included Louise Armstrong, Lawrence (Edith) Armstrong, Ann (Harold) Miller, and Edward "Eddie" (Virginia) Armstrong. He is survived by one brother and four sisters: James "Jake" (Martha) Armstrong, Pryor, OK; Lucille (Wesley) Moskovitz Davis, Bartlett, TN; Katherine "Cat" Irene (Larry) Reed, Memphis, TN; Juanita "Nita" Hennig, Jacksonville, FL; and Winford "Tiny" (Leon) Travis, Biloxi, MS.
Bobby attended Millington Central High School. He proudly enlisted into the US Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam. He was an honorable lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW-Post 7175).
On October 27, 1972, Bobby Armstrong married Alice Jeannette Roberts, better known as Miss Susie. They had three children: Thomas Cecil Armstrong, Connie Michelle Armstrong (deceased), and Gary Wayne (Samantha Johnson) Armstrong, all residences of Millington. He leaves behind one grandson, Victor Martin Armstrong of Memphis and his favorite pet, Fuzzy.
Post military years, Bobby worked as a maintenance man for International Harvester, Keystone, and Cal Western. However, as a youth, he entertained himself with horseback riding, fishing, bowling, playing cards and games. He was "Bowler of the Year" for NSA Bowling Lanes, rolling high scores. He even was known to bowl a perfect game, 300! He coached both of his sons, Thomas and Gary, in Millington League baseball. Some teams he coached were the Mariners, Mighty Mites, Red Sox, Jets, and Braves. Throughout the years, he and his wife, Susie, were University of Memphis sports enthusiasts and classic country music lovers, especially Elvis. They always enjoyed a nice two step, cheek to cheek on the dance floor, from the beginning to the very end.

The family will receive friends Saturday (Aug 13) at the Millington Chapel from 9:30am until the service at 11:00am. Interment to follow in West Union Cemetery in Millington, TN.
Bobby will truly be missed.
