He was born at Morgan county, Indiana, March 12, 1839, and moved with his parts at the age of 15 to Clark county, Iowa. He crossed the plains three times between 1859, and 1862, and his last trip too him to California, where he lived until April 1908, when he came to Decatur county, Kansas.
He resided with his brother Jacob Bolin in Summit township until he died, and leaves three brothers, Jacob Bolin of Decatur county, Chris Bolin of Ukia, Oregon, and George Bolin, of Bangor, California.
He never married.
According to his obituary in the Oberlin Herald (Oberlin, Kansas) 25 Feb 1909 his funeral sermon was given by Mennonite Minister Rev. J. Wintjen and burial was in the Mennonite Cemetery, Summit Township, Decatur County, Kansas.
