Loretta A. Dusik
of Matthews, North Carolina

Our dear mother, Loretta Dusik, passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2022, at the age of 88.

Loretta was born in Chicago, IL to Marie and Henry Kraemer. She was the third youngest of 12 children. She attended St. Philomena Elementary School which was run by the Sisters of Saint Francis. Loretta then went on to graduate from the St. Philomena Commercial School with a diploma in stenography and bookkeeping. Loretta always had a love for music and playing the piano. Her voice was so beautiful that she was often asked to sing for weddings at the church. Her children have fond memories of singing Christmas carols while mom played the piano.

Loretta met her husband, Florian Dusik at her sister's wedding and they shared 69 years of unconditional love together. Loretta was a loving mother to 8 children. Despite her large family, she always made time for everyone. After her youngest child was born, Loretta went on to receive her GED and then took some courses at a local community college. This led to her various roles as a bookkeeper and office manager. Even with her increased responsibilities of working outside of the home, Loretta was always there when her children needed her. She shared her love of cooking and baking with her children and grandchildren. Loretta made all the birthday cakes for everyone. Her homemade vanilla frosting was a favorite. She perfected the art of making a cake by taking classes. The decorated hamburger cake she made for one of her grandsons will never be forgotten. She loved spending time with her 21 grandchildren. She was always up for a tea party, watching Disney movies, going to the park, baking cookies, getting ice cream, or playing horsey rides. Loretta was a friend to many and was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need. She was a great listener and selflessly lived her life as a wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of the household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also does, and he praises her: "Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all." Proverbs 31:25-30

Loretta was preceded in death by her loving husband, Florian Dusik. She is survived by her children Cindy Dusik, Donna Gaetano (the late Paul), Mary Dusik-Bettenhausen (Scott), Joanne Elfman (Larry), Matt Dusik, Margie Johansson (Eric), Joe Dusik, and Katie Cusack (Tom), along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 7:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 and from 9:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am on Friday, September 2, 2022, at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Entombment following at All Saints Mausoleum, Des Plaines, Illinois.
