Janice Irene (Mason) Baragary entered into eternal rest on August 13, 2022, surrounded by many of her cherished children and grandchildren.

and grandchildren. Visitation for Janice will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 18 at Howard Funeral Home, Boonville, Mo. Funeral services will be Friday, August 19 at First Christian Church at 1 p.m., with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery in Billingsville. A New Year's baby, Janice was born to Albert and Grace Mason at home in Jarbalo, Kan. on January 1, 1934. Growing up in rural Kansas with her older sister, Alberta Lee, and brother, Donald Leo, Janice was a self-professed "tom boy" who wore trousers underneath her dresses, rode her pony to school, and loved to assist her dad with farm chores. Her daddy lovingly called his helper "Pete." In 1951, she married Bernard (Barney) Baragary. Their 67 year union produced three children, seven grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. In 1974, after settling in Boonville, they purchased the Boonville Livestock Auction. She embarked on numerous business partnerships with her husband, including a western store, Double B Ranchwear, with their son, Don Baragary, and his wife, Joy. Janice also worked for many years as a real estate agent and

While she was proud of her career, Janice was most devoted to her work as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The little Kansas farm girl was most at home on the countless number of trail rides with her family and her beloved horses. She and Barney, their children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren, cultivated years of precious memories and funny stories on horseback, and in campers, mess halls, and horse barns all over Missouri, Texas, Arizona, Alabama, Arkansas, and Wyoming. Prompted by her high school art teacher (who saw great promise in her), Janice worked to develop her oil painting talents. She was proud of her efforts to produce pastoral paintings of tranquil country scenes for her kids, and for each of her seven grandchildren. She hand-embroidered baby quilts for all of her great-grandchildren which will be treasured for generations to come as a testament to her memory. Her love of music and art inspired similar passions in many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Proving again and again that she was a tough cowgirl, Janice overcame many obstacles in her life, including a harrowing car accident in high school in which Janice lost her only brother, and broke her back. She was a woman of faith, nurtured through her membership in the 1st Christian Church. She worked with her husband for decades in support of the recovery community in mid-Missouri. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and sister, as well as her husband, Barney. She is survived by her three children, Rita (Larry) Sanders of Boonville, Denise (Steve) Shelley of Leavenworth, Kan., and Don (Joy) Baragary of Boonville, and her grandchildren John (Tara) Sanders of Edgerton, Kan., Kelly (Ryan) Smith of Boonville, Dale (Jamee) Sanders of Boonville, Brandon Shelley of Lansing, Kan., Bryan (Afton) Shelley of Piper, Kan., Chance (Mary Catherine) Baragary of Festus, Mo., and Whitney Baragary of Boonville. Janice is also survived by all 19 of her beloved great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Contributions in honor of Janice may be made to: Central Missouri Cancer Memorial Park or Boonslick Ministerial Alliance. Online condolences may be left
