Son of Henry Middleton Tidmore, Sr., and Margaret Brazzel Tidmore.

Grandson of Heinrich Dietmar (1730-1776), who emigrated to the America in 1750 from his homeland of Germany. Heinrich traveled aboard Capt. William Wilkie's ship Osgood from Rotterdam to Philadelphia and made his foreign oath of allegiance there September 29, 1750. Heinrich anglicized his name to Henry Tidmore some time after his 1756 marriage to Dorothy Goudelock, thus making Henry the first "Tidmore" in America. Family lore suggests that he created/changed his name to better communicate with the Indians when he made his way to South Carolina to take title to several hundred acres of land.

The DAR has deemed Dorothy Goudelock Tidmore as a Patriot for "render[ing] material aid such as furnishing supplies with or without remuneration, lending money to the Colonies, munitions makers, gunsmiths, etc." Thus, her female descendants qualify for DAR membership. Her DAR Ancestor #: A115346

Maximillian married Judith Hudson on 30th May 1844 and had 8 children: Elijah Milton Tidmore, Margaret Tidmore, Henry Crockett Tidmore, Martha L. Tidmore, John Adam Tidmore, William David Tidmore, William Maximillian "Max" Tidmore and Jefferson Davis "Jesse" Tidmore.

He later married Clarinda Camp Smith (whose first husband George M. Smith died in the Civil War) on 18th August 1867 and had 6 children: Joseph Hannibal "Han" Tidmore, Rufus Jeremiah "Coon" Tidmore, Robert Lee "Bob" Tidmore, Lucy Lillian Tidmore, Daniel Webster Tidmore and infant M. Tidmore.

Captain, Captain Tidmore's Company, Frazer's Regiment, Alabama Volunteers; Co. C, 28th Infantry Regiment Alabama, Confederacy.

"The death of two aged and highly respected citizens occurred at Tidmore this week.

Mr. Willis Green died on Sunday and Mr. Mack Tidmore on Wednesday. The burial of Mr. Tidmore will take place at Tidmore today."

Editor's Note: The first post office in the area of Nectar, Alabama, was first named "Tidmore", after the name of the first postmaster, from 1892-1902, when the name of the post office became Nectar. Thus, the area that the post office served was called "Tidmore" during that time.
