Donald is survived by his loving wife, Maria Q. Godfrey, daughters, Anna Q. Lambino, Mary Clare L. Hallare married to Nicolo Guiseppe S. Hallare; sons, Dr. Giancarlo Q. Lambino married to Trecia Padua, Marcelo Clement Q. Lambino III; grandchildren Jaime Nicolo L. Hallare and Diego Vittorio P. Lambino. He is also survived by his niece, Celeste Kennedy, and her family in Virginia Beach, VA and a host of extended family and friends. Donald was well loved by his in-laws, John and Arlene, Pascual and Del, Ray and Lulu, David and Ercelia, and neighbors, peers in his work environment and community.
He was an example of strength of will and character, optimism, positive attitude, thoughtfulness and kindness to others. He loved life and went about his business through sickness and health. Like a child, he was curious about small and big things, explore new ideas and ventures. He was an avid collector of anything under the sun. He loved to drive regardless of distance. A voracious reader, he stocked his bed and room with books. He was loyal and protective towards his family and friends. Though his good deeds were countless, he kept quiet about them and never expected anything in return. He entertained people with his funny stories, personal experiences and scenes from old western movies. He was not aware he repeated them a thousand times. Don is a man who has lived his life in line of duty, who has provided for his loved ones, who learned to treasure the small things in life. If people wanted to have the strength of a sailor, the bravery of a fireman, and the simplicity of a Virginian, they need only look at a man named Donald Godfrey.
He will be laid to rest at Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth.
