REMAINS WILL BE BURIED IN COLUMBUS THIS MORNING.
A telegram received yesterday morning brought the sad news of the death of Mrs. Caroline H. Gray, formerly of Columbus, which occurred Thursday at Munroe, N.C. She was the widow of the late W.C. Gray, a leading and influential citizen of this place for many years before and directly after the civil war. Mrs. Gray was the daughter of the late Captain William Heard, a wealthy planter of this state, and was the mother of Mrs. Carrie Frazer, of this city, Mrs. Moore of Auburn, Mesdames Joseph and William Archer, of North Carolina, and Messrs. Charles Gray of Macon, William Gray of Americus, and R.H. Gray of Alabama.
Mrs. Gray possessed one of the most beautiful and lovable of characters, combining all the fine traits of true and noble womanhood. She was about seventy-three years of age.
The remains will reach the city this morning, arriving on the 9:50 Southern train, and the funeral will occur from the First Baptist church at 10:30 o'clock. The pall bearers will be Messrs. W.R. Bedell, A.A. Carson, R.A. Carson, J.K. Harris, H.C. McKee, J.S. Matthews, J. J. Slade and John C. Cook.
