Inscription
According to "Normanby St. Andrew's Church Monumental Inscriptions" published by the East Yorkshire Family History Society, Robert shares a gravestone with his wife, Jane. The inscription reads:
"To/ the memory of/ ROBERT BEAN, died Feb/ 20 1827 aged 72 years/ Likewise/ JANE the wife of ROBERT BEAN/ who died March 19th 1826/ aged 64 years/ Hark from the tomb, a solemn sound/ Mine ear attend the cry/ Young men pray view the piece of ground/ Where you must shortly lie/ Princes, this day must be your bed/ In spite of all your Tow'rs/ The tall the wise, the Reverend head/ must lay as low as ours."
