Graduate of Bloomington High School. Joined the Bloomington Fire Department in 1966, promoted to lieutenant in 1973 and captain in 1977, promoted to assistant fire chief in 1981 and was appointed fire marshal the same year. Named Bloomington Fire Chief Feb. 1, 1983. Retired July 6, 1992.
Boy Scout troop leader for many years, served on the board of the American Red Cross and was supportive of many charitable organizations. Member of Bloomington Fire Fighters Local #49.
