He was born in Greenville on June 6, 1938 to the late Harry Joseph and Florence Helen (Jessop) Peden.
Skip was a 1958 graduate of St. Michael School, and member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Greenville. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus where he also served as the financial secretary for over 20 years and volunteered at Wednesday night bingo.
He worked at RD Werner's and Niagara Therapy, and also did some independent electrical contracting.
Skip served two terms on the Greenville Borough Council from 2008 - 2015. During his tenure on council, he served as chair of the Street Committee and served on the Code Enforcement Committee. He was appointed as Chair of the Civil Service Commission where he was responsible for ensuring that all police and firefighter candidates met the minimum qualifications for their related jobs. The quality of personnel that we have in the police and fire departments directly results from Skip's dedication to ensuring we hire the best and most qualified people. Skip also served on the Water Authority Board and was vital in securing funding to ensure that the water quality for all customers remained at a very high standard.
He really enjoyed being at his family camp in Cooks Forest and spending time with his granddaughter and great-grandchildren.
Skip was married to Janet Louise (Klingensmith) Peden on September 16, 1967 and she preceded him in death on May 4, 2014.
He is survived by: son, Harry J. Peden and his fiancé, Kimberly Williams, of Greenville; granddaughter, Ashley Peden and her fiancé, and two children, of Mercer; two sisters, Florence Garrett of Greenville, and Delores "Dot" Patricia Hozhaphel and her husband, Frederick, of Greenville; brother, Charles "Bill" William Peden of Greenville; and several nieces & nephews.
