He was born in Haskell, Texas, on May 12, 1932, to Francis Alva and Norma E. (Russell) Goodyear. He married Beverly Ann Cranfill on January 29, 1958, in Wink, Texas. He was a U.S. Army veteran, Cpl. Anti-Aircraft Artillery, and served during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly A. Goodyear of Gordon; daughters, Marjorie A. Owens of Waco, Susan E. Goodyear of Mineral Wells, and Terri L. George of Buena Vista, Virginia; grandchildren, Matt Rowley of Thurmont, Maryland, Gary George of Buena Vista, Virginia, and Sam Owens of Gordon; great-grandchildren, Tristan Rowley, Evan Rowley, and Elena Rowley; and nephews, Gary Goodyear of Arlington and Charles Goodyear of Arlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
