Parks, Lucile Martin (age 98) Of Burbank, CA passed away March 6, 2006. She is survived by a daughter, Penelope Phillips. She has lived in Burbank since 1946, and has outlived two brothers and one sister besides her parents. Although she was born in Versailles, Illinois, she grew up in Beardstown, Illinois and graduated from Beardstown H.S. in 1925. Migrating east to Washington, D.C., she soon went to work for the I.R.S. while attending classes at night at George Washington University earning her B.S. degree in Home Economics.
She met and married Ward F. Parks and they had one daughter, Penny. She enjoyed many pursuits such as traveling, gardening, cooking, knitting, sewing and attending theatrical plays and musicals. She was a member of the DAR for many years and served as National Defense Chairman for two terms of the Burbank Potreros Verdes Chapter. She was a devoted member of the Burbank Choral Club in the 1960's and 1970's, and the Off Beat Band, formed at her church that ministered in convalescent and retirement homes. She was an employee of the Burbank Unified School District for over 30 years and a former Girl Scout Leader, and until recently an active member of the United Community Church in Glendale, CA where a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on March 26 after burial at the Versailles, Illinois Westside Cemetery on March 17 at 2 p.m. For information call Crippen Mortuary in La Crescenta, CA (818) 249-6131 or Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt.
