Obituary
Patricia A. "Pat" Ulmen, 83 of Hokah, MN., passed away while surrounded by her children on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Benedictine Manor in La Crosse.
She was born in La Crosse, WI., on July 28, 1939 to Fred "Fritz" and Leona (Johnston) Tschumper. She married William Ulmen on October 26, 1960 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hokah, MN., and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2007. They lived most of their married life on a farm in Hokah.
Pat was a homemaker until her youngest child went to school. For many years, Pat worked in the medical field caring for others and ended her working career at Rush Products in Rushford, MN. In earlier years, she served on various church circles. She enjoyed sewing, reading, talking politics, playing Euchre and spending time with her family. She was the absolutely the best cook around and even towards the end in the nursing home she kicked butt in Bingo and exercise class.
Pat is survived by her children, Billy (Linda) Ulmen Jr., Randy Ulmen, Vicki Welke (Jeff Volden), Scott Ulmen, Karen (Dan "Weasle") Lorenz, Amy (Angel) Schuster, brothers and sisters Marilyn Flannery, Marlene (John) Sprosty, Francis (Jack) Schlegel, Nancy (George) Salis, Fred Tschumper, Mike (Connie) Tschumper, Cindy (Jerry) Welke, grandchildren Allen, Nathan, Jennifer, Julie, Mel, Jeremie, Jamie, Tommy, Nicole, Jessie, Rachel and Alex and their spouses, eighteen great grandchildren, her brother in law Mike Newhouse and sister in law Judy Tschumper.
In addition to her husband William Ulmen Sr., and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers James Tschumper, Donald Tschumper, Bob Tschumper, sisters Donna Jean Tschumper and Barb Newhouse and brother in law Billy Flannery.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hokah. Rev. John L. Evans II will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Hokah. Friends may call on the family Saturday morning at the church from 9am until the time of services.
A celebration of Life service will follow the graveside burial at Veteran's Park, 400 Ash St., where we can play Euchre, horseshoes, the children can play and we can share in a meal and beverages. In case of inclement weather, we will gather at the Hokah City Building (the old public school) located at 211 Main St.
