Opal Christine Hall Dawes-Smith, 61 years, 7 months and 13 days of age, departed this life on Saturday, July 6th, 1985 at the Humana Hospital Lake Cumberland in Somerset, Kentucky following a short illness.

Christine was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on November 23rd, 1923, daughter of the late Fred Hall and Laura Godby Hall. Christine was a homemaker, a member of the Nelson Valley Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Christine was survived by her loving husband, Carl Allen Smith, Sr.; three sons, Carl Allen Smith, Jr. of Science Hill, Kentucky; Marvin Eugene Dawes of Somerset, Kentucky, and Kenneth Ray Dawes of Elizabethtown, Tennessee; two daughters, Katherine Lucille Watkins of Fort Payne, Alabama and Linda Kay Flanagan of Somerset, Kentucky; four sisters, Faye Stone of Somerset, Kentucky, Mary Allen Branum of Sidney, Ohio, Alice Redford of East Chicago, Indiana, and Imogene Keel of Shelbyville, Indiana; sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Hall, who departed this life on December 27th, 1961 and Laura Hall, who departed this life on October 17th, 1946; one son, Larry Russell Hall; one daughter, Sandra Gale Dawes; two brothers, Harold Hall and James Ray Hall; and two sisters, Adalene West and Dorothy Phelps.

Visitations were held after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 8th, 1985 at the Beech Grove Baptist Church in Pulaski County, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9th, 1985 at the Beech Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Carr and Rev. Wendell Butte officiating.

Burial followed in the Beech Grove Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
