US Congressman. He was chairman of the Pennsylvania Republican State committee in 1889, a member of the State House of Representatives, 1889 to 1893 and served in the State Senate in 1895. In 1900, he moved to the Territory of New Mexico, engaged in the mining business and was a member of the Territorial Council in 1903 and 1904. In 1905, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-ninth, Sixtieth, Sixty-first and Sixty-second Congresses, serving until 1912. After his term expired, he engaged in the the oil business until his death.
