Life is a journey. For some, that journey is mostly filled with joy and happiness and for some, that journey is filled with mostly pain and struggle. Life's journey for everyone on this earth will end and that end is the beginning of eternity. We can only hope that each of us has accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts so that eternity can be spent in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. Let it be proclaimed that Billie Alex Bailey, of Myrtle, WV ended his earthly journey on July 20, 2020 and is now being held in the most perfectly loving embrace he has ever or will ever know, the embrace of God. Bill Bailey has won!
Bill's journey was not an easy one. Anyone who knew Bill, knew that he had many struggles in this life. Bill struggled most of his life with addiction. Bill struggled to maintain healthy relationships. Bill struggled to see worth in himself.
However, Bill never struggled to love his children. Because of all his other struggles, he may have struggled to be the Daddy he so desperately wanted to be, but he always loved, and his love was pure and complete. It was this love for his children that gave him the strength to fight his demons and continue to fight, and overcome, until his battle with leukemia finally ended his journey on this earth.
Throughout Bill's life, he was able to find humor in most situations and was always ready to try and come out ahead on a good trade. Bill loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting. When Bill smiled, it was contagious, it was infectious. True laughter and true smiles, however, became harder and harder to produce throughout the duration of Bill's life. The last true, pure smile Bill's children saw came a short time ago. Bill Bailey's granddaughter was standing in front of him and she turned to look up at him only the way a granddaughter can and asked, "Papaw, do you like my dress?" Bill's smile lit up the house. "Yes baby, I love your dress."
This is the smile that will forever be on the face of Bill Bailey. He is with his Lord and Savior. We mourn for our loss and for our hurt. We mourn the moments we could not spend with Bill, with Daddy. We mourn opportunities we may not have taken. But when we think of Bill Bailey, we rejoice all the more. We rejoice because God's Promise is true. We rejoice because God can take a man full of pain, full of addiction, full of struggle and can pull him to his embrace like only a Father can do and say "Son, Welcome Home. I am proud of you."
Daddy. Your children are proud of you too. Thank you for fighting. We love you.
