Barbara Ann Fannin, M.D. passed away on her 89th birthday, August 29, 2022 in Austin, TX. Barbara was an exemplary wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was the eldest of Eldon and Merle Acuff's seven children, and grew up on Ft. Worth's Eastside graduating from Poly High School, class of 1950. Barbara attended Arlington State College and later graduated from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. She maintained her own medical practice in Ft. Worth for over 30 years while living a full life outside of her medical practice. Barbara's husband, Oliver W. Fannin, Jr., and children were first and foremost of her priorities. She was affectionately (mostly) known to her six siblings as "Honcho" and always looked out for them, guiding, coaching, and kicking butt when necessary.

Barbara was a fifth generation Texan and loved all things Texas and Southwest: the history, art, culture, and music, but especially cowboys and Willie Nelson. She was an avid outdoorswoman (aka a tomboy) and never let a "great deal" on a saddle or rifle pass her by.

Barbara is survived by her children, Oliver W. Fannin, III and wife Dr. Tuyet Fannin, and Barbara A. Fannin, II; stepdaughter, Jennie Fannin; and her grandchildren, Oliver W. Fannin, IV, Ava Fannin, Audrey Fannin, and Sarah Fannin. She is also survived by her sisters, Laura Parker, Paula Hanley, Elene Harger; brother, Max Acuff; as well as several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Oliver W Fannin, Jr, her brother Eldon (Dub) Acuff, and her sister Dixie Acuff Taylor preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Aledo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the veteran's organization or animal rescue facility of your choice in memory of Barbara.
