Donald Wayne Baxter, age 79, passed away August 28, 2022. He received a degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a professor of Accounting and Finance at Pearl River Community College. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Green Beret and served in Vietnam. He retired from South Mississippi Home Health after many years. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the NRA, enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie T. Baxter and Sally H. Phillips; sister, Patricia Dianne Baxter.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Charlotte (Bruce) Joiner and Gwyndolin Goff; nieces, Shannon (Mike) Pelman, Suzy (Danny) Crutcher, Rhonda (Darrin) Borne, Sarah (Aaron) Crisler and Rachel Hare; nephew, William J. Joiner; numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The Visitation for Donald Wayne Baxter will be Friday, September 2, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Bruce McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Hunter Baxter, Derek Baxter, Shawn Baxter, Daniel Crutcher, Dylan Crutcher and Ryan Fallon. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Smith, Dennis Baxter and Dustin Green.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to longtime friend and companion, Jimmy Smith; devoted caretaker and friend, Felicia Keys; caregivers, Carolyn Williams and Jane Owens; close neighbors, Don and Brenda Housley; special friends, Dave Taylor and Mary Stainton; Forrest General Healthcare professionals.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the project fund at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 14146 Hwy 26, Lucedale, MS 39452.
