Larry E. Kerr, age 86, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022.

Larry Elwood Kerr was born on July 3, 1936, in Hooker, Texas County, Oklahoma. July 1936 was in the midst of the Great Depression and Hooker was located in the heart of the Dust Bowl. July 3, as his mother described later, was the hottest day of that summer. At the time his parents, John Elwood and Dorothea Della (Harper) Kerr were struggling farmers in the small panhandle community. Larry was the middle child for the Kerrs, his sister Janice being four years older than Larry and his younger sister, Prudence ("Prudy"), eight years his junior.

Larry attended Hooker High School graduating in 1954, and moved to Norman, Oklahoma to attend the University of Oklahoma. At OU, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Larry graduated with a degree in business and began a long career as a stockbroker. He worked for a high-profile brokerage firm, that sent him to New York City to work in the Stock Exchange for several years. Larry had many fond memories of New York City in the early 1960s; he enjoyed the musicals and restaurants that he got to experience. He often recounted the fun times he had entertaining his friends who came to visit him in the Big Apple.

Larry returned to Oklahoma City to continue his broker career, and became an expert in investing and business. Larry liked working directly with clients and seeing to their individual financial needs, and therefore continued in that role despite being offered managerial positions several times.

Larry married his college sweetheart, Marinell Friday. Together Larry and Marinell had two daughters: Leslie Kerr (Patridge) and Margaret Kerr Satterlee.

Larry enjoyed history, reading, art, fine wine, flying, and traveling. After he retired, Larry used his expertise in the stock exchange, transitioning it from a job into a hobby.

After the death of his second wife, Jody Kerr, Larry met many new people who were his support system during COVID isolation and transition into a time of assistance

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorthea Kerr; wife Joann Kerr; sister, Janice Orr and her husband, Kenneth Orr.

Larry is survived by his sister, Prudence Bone and brother-in-law Duane Bone (Springfield, MO); his daughter Leslie Patridge of Oklahoma City, and his daughter Margaret Kerr (Satterlee) and her husband Don Satterlee; his five grandchildren: Alex Barnard (New York City), Hannah Patridge (New York City), Andy Barnard (Chaing Mai, Thailand), Daniel Satterlee (Norman) and Hope Satterlee (Norman). Larry is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A visitation for Larry will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. A funeral service will be Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 10:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City, 1001 NW 25th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73106.
