George Edward Johnson 53, died unexpectedly at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 1996, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis.
Born in Otterville July 2, 1943, to Kathryn (Wahle) Johnson of Jerseyville and the late Curtis Johnson.
George was a 1961 graduate of Jersey Community High school and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1960 to 1964, where he was stationed in Japan. After his discharge, he came home and married his wife of 30 years, Mary Jane Mcintire, Oct. 13, 1965, at Community Christian Church in Jerseyville.
He had previously been employed at Brooks Erection Co. in St. Louis and Smith and Wesson in Alton until it closed. At the time of his death he was employed with Glitsch Field Services out of Dallas, where he traveled all over the world as a supervisor over the pressure vessels and columns in oil refining plants.
In addition to his wife and Mother, surviving are a son, Patrick Connolly Johnson of Augusta, Kansas; three daughters, Sharon Marie Dahlke of Racine Wis., Larryssa Katherine Moore of Fort Lewis, Wash., and Marisa Jo Johnson at home; three grandchildren; two brothers, Norman Gary Johnson of Fieldon and Micharl Allen Johnson of Jerseyville; and two sisters, Joyce Smith and Susan Taylor, both of Jerseyville.
Besides his father Curtis he was preseded in death by two sons, Shannon Lee and Darrell Edward Johnson, an infant brother.
