Born in New York, he had lived in Totowa for thirty years. He was the executive director of the Boys Club of Clifton for thirty years before his retirement in 1988. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and a parishioner of Saint James Roman Catholic Church in Totowa. He was a member of the Italian Circle in Paterson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Thomas Abruscato in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Marie Nelson Abruscato; a daughter, Kathleen Yuppa; five sisters, Lucy Zimmardo, Millie Pistoni, Rose Anselmo, Mary Anselmo, and Angie Pilotti; and a granddaughter.
