TALMAN, Herbert Blackwell "Buck", 77, of Richmond, died Saturday, February 2, 2008. He was born in Richmond on January 6, 1931. He was predeceased by his parents, Jesse P. Talman and Alma Groome Talman; his two brothers, Jesse P. Talman Jr. and Richard E. Talman. Mr. Talman was former President and Co-Owner of Blue & Gray Transportation Company Inc. and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Trucking Association, the Navy League, Board of Directors of Wyndham's Dominion Fairways Association and was selected Boss of the Year by the Business Women's Association. He was fun, loving and witty with a generous spirit. Always willing to help others and expecting nothing in return, he was respected and honored by his employees as a fair and honest business man. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 25 years, Bette Scruggs Talman; five sons, Herbert B. Talman Jr., Larry Talman, Kenneth Talman, Paul Talman and David Talman; one stepdaughter, Lynn Tucker Tunstall; one sister, Anne Talman Page; one brother, James "Ike" Talman of Chesapeake, Va.; six grandchildren, Kyle, Clint, Harlie, Everett, Austin and Abigail; two stepgrandchildren, Daniel Longest and Elizabeth Longest. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2008 and where the family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Entombment in Forest Lawn Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice Program, 8550 Magellan Parkway, Building IV, Richmond, Va. 23227.
